A workplace injury can change your life forever

Regardless of the industry in which Louisiana residents work, they expect their employers to make their safety a priority. Most employers fulfill this expectation, but that does not always preclude the possibility of a workplace injury. Depending on the type and severity of an injury, a worker’s life could be changed forever.
Workers who suffer back and neck injuries could be left with chronic pain that prevents them from returning to their former position in the company. A traumatic brain injury from a fall or other blow to the head can cause memory problems, chronic migraines or personality alterations, among other lifelong issues. Shoulders, knees and other joints never seem to be the same after a serious injury, and the same could be said for broken bones. In some cases, the danger is from exposure to toxic substances or loud noises on a regular basis.
Any one of these injuries, or some other serious injury, could cause you to be out of work for a significant period. You might not even able to return to work at all. The Louisiana workers’ compensation system provides numerous benefits to injured workers, but the system can be frustrating and complicated to navigate alone.
It is typically beneficial to engage the services of a workers’ compensation attorney who understands how the system works and can help you obtain all of the benefits to which you are entitled. Depending on your occupation, you may be exposed to third parties and/or their equipment, which could have been involved in the accident that injured you. An attorney can also investigate the possibility that you might have a legal claim against a third party for your workplace injury.
